FAQ/general

Am I too old to start calisthenics?

Last updated: 11 April 2026

No. We have members in their 40s, 50s, and 60s training at Calixpert right now and making real progress. Age changes how you train, not whether you can train.

The main difference with age is recovery. Older bodies need slightly more time between intense sessions and benefit more from proper warm-ups and mobility work. Both of these are already built into the Calixpert programs. The structure that makes the programs effective for younger members is the same structure that makes them safe and sustainable for older ones.

Calisthenics is actually one of the better training methods as you get older. You are moving your own bodyweight through natural ranges of motion rather than loading joints with heavy external weight. The risk of the kind of acute injuries common in powerlifting or heavy gym training is significantly lower.

What does change is your timeline expectations. Progress may come a little slower than it would at 25, and that is completely fine. Consistency over months still produces the same results. We have seen members in their 50s achieve their first pull-up, develop handstand holds, and completely transform their strength and body composition.

If you have specific health conditions or joint issues, mention them in the community when you start and we will point you toward the right modifications. But age alone is not a reason to hold back.
